How soon for a product change on a credit card?
The credit card company reopened my account and restored my card privileges. However they sent me a plain jane vanilla card with no rewards or anything attached. I’ll use the card to charge something once a month just to keep the account active. Then once I feel the time is right, I’ll ask them to product change the card.
All that means is they trade in the old card for a new card type. My account number won’t change either. And I won’t get hit on my credit report if they agree to it. The only complication would be if my card isn’t compatible with any of the rewards products. I want the rewards card because even though I’m not a merchant account reseller I want rewards when I buy something. Who wouldn’t want to go shopping and get rewards that you can use to go shopping at a later time?
When you call they pull up your account and see what it can be changed to. If they tell me the only thing I qualify for is something with a annual fee then it’s a no go for me. I’ll wait at least 6 months from now before I ask. If they agree that card will default to being my go to card. If not, it will just stay in position number 3 where it is now.

Credit card companies are changing their business tactics. It is a good idea that we read their new guidelines and regulations to make the smart decisions. We also have the right and need to protect ourselves.
