They changed our pay dates again
My company is changing the day on which we get paid. We were supposed to switch this month because there are 3 pays and there would have been minor interruptions to our pay cycle. We would have gotten 1 partial pay and 2 regular pays.
Merging the payroll was a much larger job than they anticipated so it’s causing us to change on a different cycle. Now we’re going to get our regular September pays but switch in October. In October we’ll have 1 check for 1 week and 1 check for 2 weeks. Most of my coworkers haven’t figured out that they’re going to be short in October if they don’t plan ahead.
I mentioned this to one coworker back in late May and he was surprised that I knew our pay schedule for the rest of the year. This is the same coworker with no savings of any kind. Not even a 401k and he’s been employed here for almost 12 years. I have my pays scheduled for the rest of the year. When we have those few times where we get more than 1 check, I have a few extra dollars from those checks. But the majority of that money gets thrown into savings and on my credit card debt.
I think a lot of people are going to be in for a rude awakening come October.
